Types of Sentences
There are different kinds of sentences which are given below
- Declarative Sentences
- Interrogative Sentences
- Exclamatory Sentences
- Imperative Sentences
1. Declarative Sentences
Sentences in which we make a statement or sentences which show a statement are called declarative sentences.
The sentences end with a period (.)
Examples:
| I will go to Karachi. | میں کراچی جاؤں گا |
| I am buying a car | میں کار خرید رہا ہوں |
| I will beat you | میں تمہیں ماروں گا |
| He runs. | وہ دوڑتا ہے |
| She sings. | وہ گاتی ہی |
| I like climbing. | میں کوہ پیمائی پسند کرتا ہوں |
| Fran is sad. | فرحان غمگین ہے |
| My cat is black. | میری بلی کاالے رنگ کی ہے |
| Dogs are cute. | کتے بہت پیارے ہیں |
| He is eight years old. | وہ آٹھ سال کا ہے |
| The sky is blue. | آسمان نیلا ہے |
| He loves pizza. | اسے پیزا بہت پسند ہے |
| The car is white. | کار سفیدرنگ کی ہے |
| Ice is cold. | برف ٹھنڈی ہوتی ہے |
2. Imperative Sentences
Sentences in which we give command or order to others are called imperative sentences.
These sentences may end with a period (.) or exclamation mark (!).
Examples:
| Turn on the button | بٹن آن کر دو |
| Use it | یہ استعمال کرو |
| Close it | اسے بند کر دو |
| Put it | اسے رکھ دو |
| Say it | یہ کہو |
| Sign here | یہاں دستخط کرو |
| Smoke outside | سگریٹ نوشی باہر کرو |
| Stand here | یہاں کھڑے ہو جاؤ |
| Swim here | یہاں تیرو |
| Tell me | مجھے بتاؤ |
| Try again | دوبارہ کوشش کرو |
| Type here | یہاں درج کرو |
| Wake up early | جلدی اٹھو |
| Ok. Work | چلو کام کرو |
| Decide it | فیصلہ کرو |
| Wash it | اسے دھوؤ |
| Catch it | اسے پکڑو |
| Write here | وہاں انتظار کرو |
| Boil it | اسکو ابالو |
| Brush your teeth | اپنے دانت صاف کرو |
| Miss him | اسے یاد کرو |
| Allow me | مجھے اجازت دو |
| Break it | اسے توڑو |
| Cancel it | یہ ترک کرو |
| Complain him | اسے شکایت کرو |
| Dance | ناچو |
| Eat it | اسے کھاؤ |
| Find it | اسے تلاش کرو |
| Fly it | اسے اڑاؤ |
| Hire it | اسے کرائے پر لے لو |
3. Interrogative Sentences
Sentences which are used to ask questions are called interrogative sentences.
These sentences end with a question mark (?).
Examples:
| Are you angry? | آپ ناراض ہیں کیا؟ |
| Are you coming? | تم آ رہے ہو؟ |
| Did you understand? | سمجھے؟ |
| Do you know? | تمہیں معلوم ہے؟ |
| Do/shall we begin? | شروع کریں؟ |
| Had you asked for me?? | کیا آپ نے مجھے بلایا تھا؟ |
| Has he got a car? | کیا اس کے پاس کار ہے؟ |
| Have you any business with me? | کیا آپکو مجھ سے کچھ کام ہے؟ |
| How are you? | کیسے ہو؟ |
| How is the family? | اہل و عیال بخیریت ہیں؟ |
| Is it holiday today? | کیا آج چھٹی ہے؟ |
| Is the manager in? | کیا منیجر اندر ہے؟ |
| May I go? | میں جاؤں؟ |
| Should I bring it? | میں لاؤں؟ |
| What brings you here? | کیسے تکلیف کی؟ |
| What can I do for you? | میں آپ کیلئے کیا کر سکتا ہوں؟ |
| What did you say? | کیا کہا؟ |
| What happened? | کیا ہوا؟ |
| What is the matter? | کیا معاملہ ہے؟ |
| What is the reason? | کیا وجہ ہے؟ |
4. Exclamatory Sentences
Those sentences which are used to show emotions, feelings and sentiments are called exclamatory sentences.
These sentences end with exclamation mark (!)
Examples:
| Beautiful! | بہت خوب |
| Beware! | خبر دار! ہوشیار رہئے |
| By God’s grace! | خدا کے فضل سے |
| Congratulations! | مبارک باد |
| Done wonderfully! | کمال کر دیا |
| Excellent! | بہت عمدہ، بہت خوب |
| For your good health! | آپ کی بہتر صحت کے لئے |
| Good heavens! | میرے خدیا(تعجب سے) |
| Hello! Listen! | سنئے |
| Hey! | ارے |
| How absurd! | بڑی فجول بات ہے |
| How dare he! | اس کی اتنی جرات |
| How dare you say that? | ایسا کہنے کی تمہیں جری کیسے ہوئی؟ |
| How disgraceful! | کتنی بے عزتی کی بات |
| How disgusting! | چھی چھی |
| How joyful! | بڑی خوشی کی خبر ہے |
| How lovely! | کتنا خوبصورت |
| How sad! | بہت تکلیف دہ |
| How sweet! | کیا خوب |
| How terrible! | کتنا خوفناک |
