Category - Tenses

Past Perfect Continuous Tense is used to describe those actions that begin in Past and are still progressing. It cannot be confused with Past Continuous and Past Perfect tense, because in those tenses, actions begin and progress for sometime in Pat Continuous Tense. While in Past Perfect Tense, actions begin and get completed. So, in Past Perfect Continuous Tense, we talk about the actions begin in Past, but those actions get completed and are still in progress.

Past Perfect Tense is used to describe those actions that begun in Past and got completed. Don't mess it with Past Continuous Tense. Because Past Continuous Tense describes the action that happened in past and continued for some time. Past Perfect Tense tells about an action, thing that started in past and then went to completion.

The past continuous tense is used to describe actions that began in the past and often continued for a short period of time after the action started. This tense describes actions or events that happened at a specific time in the past. These actions are usually no longer happening at the time the sentence is being said or written.  The past continuous (also called past progressive) is a verb tense which is used to show that an ongoing past action was happening at a specific moment of interruption, or that two ongoing actions were happening at the same time. We use first form of verb+ing in this tense. Past Continuous Tense formed using was/were + present participle. One example of this tense is: I was playing cricket when she called me last night. The past continuous tense is "was play." Questions are indicated by inverting the subject and was/were. Negatives are made with not Simple: I was eating pizza Question: Was I eating pizza? Negative: I was not eating pizza

Past Indefinite Tense. Past indefinite indicates that the action described in a sentence has happened before and is not a current happening. Example: She watched television. The example indicates that the action of watching was an event of the past.
